“Calling in creators and culture-makers:

Grow your community down the street, around the globe and in the palm of your hand. Bring your people together and monetize when it matters…”

Playgroundapp is a place creators meet and build communities that grows through special events spaces. Playgroundapp lives up to their mission “…built by doers and dreamers for the makers and players.” The culture is very diverse and the environment is very welcoming which is imperative to me because as a company who’s platform is about building, welcoming, and creating communities of all forms, it is important to live up to that trait and be a good role model.

My Role.

Digital Design Manager

In my role as a Digital Design Manager, I lead a talented team of 4 designers, managing multiple projects to enhance CMS Web3 event content and website performance. Our efforts resulted in an increase in subscribers through effective project management and strict adherence to deadlines.

I spearhead the creation and update of high-quality graphics for our company's social media profiles, including Instagram, Email, and Pinterest, as well as promotional materials such as posters, brochures, logos, and gifs. These initiatives boosted user engagement and brand visibility.

I am proud of developing innovative solutions like the "favorite repeat" recommendation tool using organized collaborative filtering techniques and Keynote. Additionally, I collaborate with the Creative Director to design UX/UI mockups for email campaigns, achieving a remarkable 150% increase in fellowship applications.

My responsibilities include designing marketing collateral incorporating client feedback, enhancing designs, and ensuring a consistent brand message across all platforms, resulting in great user engagement and setting the tone for brand visibility.

In my day-to-day role, I lead my team of Design Editors in uploading 8-10 events daily across the US, covering various themes such as parties, workshops, wellness, and business. I facilitate weekly stand-up meetings for event management, ensuring the design and usability of each event align with our high standards and accurate information.

I meticulously search for the correct imagery on platforms like Pinterest or Unsplash to match the event type and Playground’s web design, ensuring brand consistency and visual appeal. Being in a dynamic startup environment, I wear multiple hats ranging from content creation, branding, and design to user experience and client relations.

I thrive in Playground’s collaborative atmosphere, which allows me to expand my skills in design while learning new ones. Leading a team of 4 offshore design editors in content creation has honed my attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards in web design patterns. I am a hands-on team player dedicated to delivering exceptional results.

Playground Logo Brand Design

Playground wanted a remodel of their logo for their signature, newsletters and email templates to send out to clients with a brand voice that was modern yet fun. I designed two different kinds of animated gifs that could be used for email and signature. I would send daily updates to the COO for feedback and fix any requests before the final results. Each design was rendered through Blender and Adobe After Effects. I turned them into a few seconds gifs through Adobe Premiere. Both are rendered in 4k resolution.

A little challenge I went through is since the resolution is so high, using platforms such as SendGrid and Klaviyo did not support the high mb for each files, so I had to play around with the resolutions that took almost a week to figure out.

Design Samples.

Here are other projects I got to work on individually or with cross-functional teams such as as the UX/UI team, Product Development Team, CEO and COO. Each project was designed or animated in Adobe Creative Suite mainly using Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere. The total time it took for each project around 1-2 days to a week to complete.

I learned a lot creating designs or helping out in designing with teams. One thing I learned is to always ask questions and keep teams updated in what I am doing, have done, or will be doing.

Process & Challenge

Playground word mark signature designed in Photoshop and Adobe Premiere. This was a challenge due to getting the word mark clear and not have jagged edges. I worked with the COO in trying to design and test the word mark. I got help from the UX/UI team that helped me resolve the jagged issue.
