When life gives you lemons, make animations.
Lemon-y Slice!
This is my second animation and by far my favorite one. This animation is a lemon being sliced in half by a kitchen knife. I came up with this idea during my lunch break. I wanted to create a 360 pan of lemon slicing. This idea is to have fun, and be playful. This took me a month to create in Blender!

Role.
Create a 360 pan of an object.
Animator/Rigger
Deliverables.
The medium used was Maya and Adobe Premiere. The background is an HDRI kitchen scene, added a camera to pan around the action, and the animation is 550 frames to get it to 30 seconds long in video.
Storyboard.
Before production, a storyboard was made to help with prototyping, and creating the final product.
Moodboard.
The design was next, so I put a mood board together with different pictures of kitchen islands, lemons, and knives to bring my idea to life with a physical visual.
Design.
Using Maya was a challenge due to creating, failing, and creating again. Working with rigging, one does not anticipate how many steps there are to creating something as “simple” as a lemon. My peers were my solution. It helped a lot to reach out to my peers for shortcuts in the rigging process. Another help was using an image of a lemon that helped with shaping my lemon.
Per day I spent hours worth of rigging each step of slicing the lemon.
